TiconTour13 is nigh
I thought I’d have a bit more time to post the lead up to this, but am almost all packed and off to the airport tonight. Tomorrow morning I’ll have 2.5 hours at Changi airport, then it’ll be next stop LHR (London Heathrow). I should be arriving around 3.30 pm GMT (none of that UTC stuff here for this trip!).
The cat is being pouty beside me, she knows what suitcases mean: one less slave.
As to the cases, I’m taking two: a small, almost hand-luggage sized one full of books (14.7kg), and a larger one with everything else (12 kg). I’ve also gone to the darkside, travelling with a man-bag type satchel. I figured that I prefer to wear a backpack on one shoulder only, so what difference does wearing a single strap job do? It’s a pacsafe metrosafe 300.
I’m still in the whole state of have-I-packed-everything, so not really at the point of looking forward to the trip. That will come, after I check the bags in and have boarding passes in my hand. Right now I’m too nervous, too concerned that I’ll miss the flight.
Putting my more objective hat on, it should be a good trip. A week back in London, catching up with folks and exploring all manner of delightful sights. Plus going to a signing at Forbidden Planet Bookstore, a chance to see how they do things. Then there’s World Fantasy Con, where I’ll hide behind a huge table of Australian books and marvel at the folks walking by. Essentials are packed: passports, credit cards, a mini A-Z, medicines (both in hand and stored luggage), a book to read, electrical cords. And some clothes.
